New to the NCB in September 1954, 3823 was allocated to the North West division, initially at Walkden Railways in Lancashire. It was fitted with a Giesl ejector and underfeed stoker sometime in 1966 before transferring to Bickerhsaw Colliery in Leigh and allocated the rather catchy number 63/000/432. Here it worked until withdrawal in 1983 although for the last couple of years carried the unofficial name of “Fred†chalked on the tank sides, along with a “locally made†squared Giesl ejector. Warrior was sold into preservation in 1984 to the Dean Forest Railway but has not run yet.
